Gifts {A spot of shopping}

Gemstone Magnets $36.00 for set
These magnets would look absolutely glamorous on any fridge!
they don't ship internationally....
so I feel a DIY coming on really soon!!!!

I also found in my travels:
Much more fancy looking than the $2 red one I use for lighting candles (I wonder if this one is refulable?)

How is your holiday shopping going? finished? just started?
I am about 80% there.

Happy Blog Birthday {Giveaway}

A year ago today I decided to start this little blog Black Velvet Chair, designed as a self development tool, a little something to scrapbook my design and DIY life whilst entertaining my mind and possibly others. Black Velvet chair has become part of my daily life, reading blogs inspires me continuously and the beautiful friends that have been made far and wide continues to astound me. My very first blog post.

I wanted to buy myself a self present to mark the occasion so I headed over to Kerri’s shop Driftwood Interiors and purchased a print from the “Collected series” for myself, after such positive reaction last Christmas gifting prints to my Mother and Mother In law. True to style with self presents I usually end up purchasing a present equally as brilliant for a friend (I am strange like that). I am super excited to offer one of my bloggy friends this beautiful present:

Giveaway

To be gifted this lovely Pink Floral Watercolor - Bouquet in Flow Blue from Driftwood Interiors you need to be a Black Velvet Chair follower, simply leave a comment letting me know your favourite or most memorable Black Velvet Chair moment or post over the last year. Goodluck and Thankyou all for your support over the past year!

Self present Friday

The self present trend is catching on - get amongst it!

This self present was waiting for me today - precariously hanging out of our mailbox & just in time for the weekends festivities, we have a few dinner dates and tomorrow I will be thrifting the Rozelle markets with my beautiful friend Karina.

The four leaf clover necklace is from on NY Light Metals on Etsy. I found this necklace via the blog of beautiful Natasha from Shue love, Natasha has also announced a giveaway where you can win a $40 store credit (you can still enter here). Good luck & have a great weekend.

The beautiful bowl is white and copper and is made of paper mache, it comes from Etsy seller etco and measures 3 1/2 inches wide & 1 3/4 inches tall, this would make a perfect catch for your rings or jewelry.

2. Leave a Comment on this post - Tell me where you would put this bowl or what you would put in it?
As usual the winner will be calculated by random.org.

Christmas wrapped up & some thoughtful presents

I feel so blessed, not only did we get to spend Christmas with our amazing family's, I received so many beautiful presents. I hope you enjoyed yourself & shared some precious time with those you love.

The gifts were soooo thoughtful i just had to white a post about them!....

My husband gave me the book" I married adventure" it is reminiscent of his love for adventure and of course I am in love with the Zebra print cover, the book is from 1940. It is displayed with two old corbels and a photograph of my nan taken on Palm beach (original photograph a Christmas gift from my mum).

My mum went all out this year with wonderfully personalised presents (photograph bottom: from left to right):
1. A cream coloured hand knitted pillow (knitted by mum, beautiful)
2. A box jam packed of milk glass. Love!
3. My nans hand painted bone china tea set, the intricacy on the pieces is amazing. Not too sure how I will display it, any ideas?
4. A beautiful pair of framed photographs of my nan and grandparents.

check out the detail on the tea cup and saucer!

My mother in law quilted these black and white butterflies and framed it. I already have it displayed in the lounge room.

And here is our tree, all the gifts wrapped (hubby ended up helping)

 A snippet of the winter wonderland at my mum's house, she went all out this year with the decorations.

Not long now until 2011.
Looks like we will be spending new years with our friends enjoying a dinner or two in Sydney,
what do you have planned?
