Tuesday at Home

I have been having alot of fun lately styling playing spaces around home.
We went Skiing last week, on the drive home I picked up this beautiful blossom branch on the side of the road.

I Love how the petals fall on the buffet, they remind me of snow and cleaning.

Skiing was fantastic, I got brave and tackled a few jumps.

Here is a $10 Thriifted black ginger jar lamp, upcycled with Ikea silver GENJS Shade

GNEJS Shade IKEA Directed light, shade of imitated silver makes the light extra decorative.

KEEP IT REAL {Our Home}

In an effort to KEEP IT REAL this Monday I am sharing with you how my dining room usually looks, this room doubles as a laundromat and bike garage.

Have you shared a space that is “REAL”? I encourage you to do so to let your readers know that we don’t all live in show homes.

Stair Gallery {Home Inspiration}

If you are a regular follower of Black Velvet Chair you have probably realised that our abode is spread over three levels, Real Estate people would probably call it a “Townhouse style apartment”.  The stairwell was left blank for many years, until it received a spruce up January 2011 & the short residency of Basil The Gazelle (until he decided he preferred the Guest Bedroom).

Over the past year I have been collecting White and Mirrored frames and pairing them with Black and White photographs. Whilst this area is still a work in progress I am loving how this part of the house is progressing. For the first frame instalment I laid out the frames on a bed before putting them up, but since then I have been adding to it one by one (Just making sure they are level).

The Floating glass frame (above right) was a thrifted find, it was dark timber when I purchased it, I laboriously applied many layers of white paint.

Hello Sunshine... {House}

I spent some of the weekend pottering around the house creating beautiful new vignettes with found, thrifted and new bits and peices.

The coffee table got a good work out  with pilfered flowers from the ginormous anniversary bouquet.

Keeping it real for you, I can spot at least 3 dog toys in the photo above.

Coral and sea grass display sourced from our travels placed in silver auderve tray inherited from my grandmother.

The Chihuahua who attempted to steal Christmas {Giftwrap}

Somebody was way to exited and couldn’t wait for Christmas day, Bella attempted to open her Christmas present early however she was sprung in the act by the Mr. Snaps to me as gift was wrapped with extra care and a whole lot of twine.

Tree with the lights on.

Some of you might remember my DIY paper doily lights from last year.

Does anybody like gift wrapping more than me? here is this years Christmas all wrapped up, I used a mixture of white and brown paper I embellished this with cute little Christmas reindeer stamps in silver, presents were tied with silver or black and white twine, paper doily's and mini pegs, Instead of name tags I cut out letters {either initials or full names} free hand using glitter fabric.

Pink cockatoo on a plate {Weekend Thrifting}

How fun is this Pink Cockatoo plate I found at a local thrift store, I think it looks pretty neat hanging in the entryway to our apartment (Takes a little focus of the intercom system).

 It seams very Black & Spiro inspired

The Thrifted haul!

You find some amazing things when you are not looking for anything in particular.

Did you manage to do any thrifting over the weekend?

Thrifted Find {Parisian fashion prints}

As Mr Goodwill Hunting has advised it sometimes Pays when thrifting to walk around the store more than once, especially if they are putting good out on the shelves. I just happened to be looking lurking around the frames when the salesperson put a set of 4 matching frames out on the shelf.

I paid a mere $2 Each!
Yep, A total of $8 for a little Parisian influence in my dressing area.

The colours go perfectly with our master bedroom:

Does anyone have any great thrifting tips?

$3 Frame Makeover {Chalkboard}

I purchased this frame super cheap from a thrift store ($3) purchased purely for the bones of the frame, frangipanis are not my style (I think the herds of cars with windscreens plastered in stickers might have something to do with it).

I gave the frame two coats of Glossy White paint (already had) and the frangipanis were painted over with two coats of Chalkboard paint (available from any hardware store).

We now have a little spot in the Kitchen to write messages. I wonder if anyone can figure out what is happening in our family this week from my little scribble drawing.

PS:  franjapani Car stickers? Here is an example
