The Chihuahua who attempted to steal Christmas {Giftwrap}

Somebody was way to exited and couldn’t wait for Christmas day, Bella attempted to open her Christmas present early however she was sprung in the act by the Mr. Snaps to me as gift was wrapped with extra care and a whole lot of twine.

Tree with the lights on.

Some of you might remember my DIY paper doily lights from last year.

Does anybody like gift wrapping more than me? here is this years Christmas all wrapped up, I used a mixture of white and brown paper I embellished this with cute little Christmas reindeer stamps in silver, presents were tied with silver or black and white twine, paper doily's and mini pegs, Instead of name tags I cut out letters {either initials or full names} free hand using glitter fabric.

$1 Holiday season decor {DIY}

As you might have seen from my thrifted weekend haul I scored a little reindeer and a natural twig wreath, they were $1 a pop! Yes that is less than I pay for a coffee.

With a little paint I have transformed the dining room buffet for the Holiday season, even better the reindeer painter {my niece} accepted payment in home made chocolate cupcakes!.

Remember he was a gaudy shade of Christmas gold before

Also I tied some ribbon to the wreath with a little bow and hung it over the top of the mirror (Fixing to the wire at the back of the mirror).

$2 well spent?

The Thrift stores seam to have allot of Christmas decorations out, I am sure there will be even more in store next week as this weekend I envisage people turfing unwanted Christmas decor from last year (isn't it funny how much your taste can change in a year).

Christmas wrapped up & some thoughtful presents

I feel so blessed, not only did we get to spend Christmas with our amazing family's, I received so many beautiful presents. I hope you enjoyed yourself & shared some precious time with those you love.

The gifts were soooo thoughtful i just had to white a post about them!....

My husband gave me the book" I married adventure" it is reminiscent of his love for adventure and of course I am in love with the Zebra print cover, the book is from 1940. It is displayed with two old corbels and a photograph of my nan taken on Palm beach (original photograph a Christmas gift from my mum).

My mum went all out this year with wonderfully personalised presents (photograph bottom: from left to right):
1. A cream coloured hand knitted pillow (knitted by mum, beautiful)
2. A box jam packed of milk glass. Love!
3. My nans hand painted bone china tea set, the intricacy on the pieces is amazing. Not too sure how I will display it, any ideas?
4. A beautiful pair of framed photographs of my nan and grandparents.

check out the detail on the tea cup and saucer!

My mother in law quilted these black and white butterflies and framed it. I already have it displayed in the lounge room.

And here is our tree, all the gifts wrapped (hubby ended up helping)

A snippet of the winter wonderland at my mum's house, she went all out this year with the decorations.

Not long now until 2011.
Looks like we will be spending new years with our friends enjoying a dinner or two in Sydney,
what do you have planned?

Christmas- Gift wrapping

I am a big sucker for a well wrapped present! I get almost as much love out of wrapping the present as I do giving the present.

The materials that I sourced for gift wrapping this year include brown paper, silver glittery material, brown hessian, assortment of navy blue ribbons & a pack of small silver baubles.

Wrapping the Gift
Wrap the body of the gift in Brown paper, cover the centre of the gift with a piece of the hessian (wrapped all the way around) tie with a bow.
Cut a love heart out of the glitter material and thread the silver bauble to it.

Gift Tags
To customise the gift tags I used these cute individual letter stamps with a Navy blue ink.
(makes it look a bit like a rustic letterpress)
So there you go is my gift wrapping for this year, no Red or Green insight... this wrapping could definitely be used for any type of present wrapping.

Have you started your gift wrapping this year?

DIY- Paper Doily Christmas tree lights

Over the weekend I picked up a pack of paper doilies as I was planning on using them as gift wrapping tags, however when we put the tree up and dressed it I felt like it needed something more, so I  decided to fold the paper doily's and add them to the fairly lights sporadically.

In love with the result, I think it looks beautiful! Vintage/ Modern inspired Christmas.

Step 1: Fold the paper doily's in 1/2 then 1/2 again etc.
Step 2: Cut a small 3mm hole in the centre whilst the doily's are still folded in your hand.
Step 3: Unfold doily and place light through doily hole, far back on the base of the fairly light.
Step 4: Sticky tape around the base of the doily & fan out the paper doily so that none of the light is touching the paper. Note: Please Be sure to make sure none of the paper is touching the light and it could get hot.

Yay! It's almost Christmas time

With December just around the corner I thought I might share this years Gift wrapping inspiration:

I have started doing some shopping so will share with you some wrapped pieces sometime soon.

Last years Christmas tree was dismal to put it bluntly, we were busy planning our wedding so we opted to only decorate the top 1/2 of the tree......picture below Bella and the Tree swamped by presents.

The Black & Spiro window display is totally amazing and inspirational!
